Dundee United secured their first win of the season on Sunday as they defeated Motherwell at Tannadice Park.
The Scottish Premiership match was a closely contested affair, with both sides creating opportunities throughout the game. However, it was Dundee United who emerged victorious, thanks to a brace from striker Jamie Langley.
Langley opened the scoring in the 26th minute, before adding another in the second half to secure all three points for his team. The victory was Dundee United's first since November 2019 and will no doubt boost their confidence heading into the remainder of the season.
For Motherwell, it was a frustrating afternoon as they were unable to find the back of the net despite having numerous chances. The defeat leaves them in seventh place in the table, just two points off safety.
Despite the result, Manager Stephen Robinson praised his players' effort and said that they have the ability to compete with any side in the league.
"It's been a tough start to the season but I'm really pleased with how we've fought back," he said. "We've got some good players here and we're going to keep pushing forward."
Overall, it was a hard-fought win for Dundee United, and one that could well set them up for a strong run in the remaining matches of the season.
